Job Description

Established in 1903, Conlon Construction Co. has been a leader in the construction industry in Eastern Iowa for 115 years. Our office in Coralville, IA, is currently searching for a lead carpenter to assist and supervise carpentry crews in the Iowa City area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have a solid ability to perform the duties and responsibilities listed below. Supervisory experience in addition to carpentry skills is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but are not limited to, the following):

Constructs walls, partitions, framing, and roof structure from wood, aluminum and steel
Assembles and disassembles scaffolding, ladders, bracing and support systems
Line and cover structures with insulating materials
Installs doors and windows, build stairs, and lay floors
Application of plaster, cement, stucco, wallboard, tiles or shock-absorbing materials to ceilings, walls and roofs. Sealing joints, sand and prepare walls, floors, and ceiling for painting, papering, or seal coats
Assemble, apply, and finish fixtures
Finish work – including trimming walls, doors, and windows
Assembly and application of hardware and fixtures to cabinets, doors, and windows
Keep work area in clean and in safe condition while complying with all state and federal safety regulations
Ability to work independently greater than 50 percent of the time
Ability to successfully supervise and lead carpentry crews
