Tim Conlon, President of Conlon Construction Co., was the 2016 recipient of the Master Builders of Iowa (MBI) Build Iowa Award. The honor was bestowed at MBI’s 104th Annual Conference on February 23rd in Altoona, Iowa. The Association represents over 2,500 commercial construction companies throughout the state of Iowa.
Governor Chester J. Culver and Main Street Iowa recognized Conlon Construction Co. for dedication to downtown revitalization by enhancing economic development in Dubuque and the State of Iowa. This award recognizes the Hotel Julien Dubuque as Best Total Rehabilitation Over 5000 Square Feet.
Awarded in 2014 for the University of Dubuque Heritage Center Project, this award was created to recognize the exceptional efforts of a construction team in executing the process of completing a project. The criteria for this award focuses less on aesthetics of a project and more on the role of the contractor.
For their strong presence as part of Dubuque’s history and unyielding support throughout the community, the Dubuque County Historical Society recognized the Conlon Family as Treasures of Dubuque. The Treasures of Dubuque bestows special honor and recognition upon an individual or family who has significantly contributed to both the community and the history of Dubuque.
The Tri-State Business Times invited readers and community members to suggest individuals they believe make the most substantive difference in the Tri-State Area. The project, called “The Most Influential People in the Tri-States,” recognizes community leaders who are the most likely to make things happen, whether it requires a phone call, getting involved on the ground level or providing leadership.
Michael J. Conlon, Vice President of Conlon Construction Co., was honored as the 2001 recipient of the MBI “Build Iowa Award.” This award is given to a member who has best exhibited, throughout his career, the principles of MBI/AGC motto….Skill, Responsibility, and Integrity. Master Builders of Iowa is the largest and oldest construction and trade association in Iowa, and the state’s building chapter for the Associated General Contractors of America.

In 2001, Tim Conlon was the recipient of the Dubuque Jaycees’ “Gil Chavenelle Award.” This award is given for exceptional leadership, contribution, and service to the Dubuque Community.
Conlon Construction Co. was the 2000 recipient of the National Society of Fundraising Executives National Philanthropy Day Award.

In celebration of their 100th year in business, Conlon Construction Co. announced that it will establish a $100,000 fund to support both craft training and college scholarships for students entering the general construction trades, construction management, and construction engineering fields.
