Mount Carmel Bluffs Phase 2 Underway

Phase 2 of the $90 million project to transform the campus of the BVM sisters into a senior housing community is taking shape. The deconstruction of Caritas Center and Marian Hall made way for the construction of what will be 115 senior living apartments. The new buildings will also house a cafe, market, barbershop and beauty parlor, library, chapels, private and restaurant-style dining rooms and the Roberta Kuhn Center which hosts art, foreign language, history, and writing classes.

The campus, occupied by the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary since 1893, is a project in partnership with nonprofit Presbyterian Homes and Services. The opening of the new senior living apartments will be the first time the campus will be open to the general population for occupancy. Completion of the new buildings is slated for 2023.
